Paintings by Enrique Gil Guerra
The catalogue gathers 176 paintings by Enrique Gil Guerra (Madrid, 1912–1996) documented by his family: portraits, Roma women and flamenco scenes, dancers, still lifes and landscapes. Trained at San Fernando under Manuel Benedito, a pupil of Sorolla, he painted in oil between 1934 and 1992 while teaching drawing and signing advertising as "Nike". Many images are old black-and-white photographs of canvases now in private collections. Each entry gives the medium, the date when known and the catalogue reference.
